The received manuscript is forwarded to two peer reviewers requesting their opinions on the validity of the context. Anonymous external reviewers who are not affiliated with the journal are chosen from the contact list and/or the Journal/AuthorName Estimator (JANE) from the Biosemantics Group (http://jane.biosemantics.org/), as well as Publons (https://publons.com/) lists. Editorial Board members may be relied on for their views and recommendation in case of decline by external reviewer. The reviewers’ comments will be returned by email to the corresponding author. After compliance by the author(s) to the reviewer’s comments (if any), the corrected version will be sent back to the journal and subsequently forwarded to the reviewer for revision. In-depth statistical review will be considered on request by the methodology or disciplinary reviewers. According to the reviewer’s comments and the discretion of the Editor, the manuscript is accepted or rejected. Upon final approval the Editor uploads the final version as ‘accepted’ to start the language check and revision for publication. The author(s) will be informed by email the handling fee and method of payment by bank transfer. A printed confirmation letter will be sent to the corresponding author. In case of rejection the Editor will state the reason for non-acceptance. |
